Today is my first day of my first cycle of Clomid. I hope it works and we're finally able to start the family we've been waiting for. Probably because I was anxious to start, I took the pill in the morning around 10am. I had very little side effects and feel fortunate that none of the SE I read about affected me. In hindsight, I should've taken it tonight so that I could've slept right through any side effects. 15 days ago, I started provera, which induced my period come. Exactly 5 days later, AF showed up. Everywhere around me, girls at my office, girlfriends of my close friends are pregnant. I can feel that i'm more melancholy than normal and I'm extremely lazy. Normally after work, I will cook or do something productive. For the past 5 days, I come home straight from work and get on the computer to research about infertility.
Here's to hoping I get a BFP early september!

In laws.
It must be hard when you lose a person you've spent 50+ years with. My FIL met my MIL in Germany during the war. It was quite the whirlwind romance they had. MIL was quite the catch back in the day. She seriously resembled Audrey Hepburn. FIL was in the miliary and they met running track. I've heard enough stories from them to know that they faced many battles being the inter racial couple. One year, FIL was recognized for being airman of the year and they were invited to the White house. I think it was 1969 or 1970. They were one of the first interracial couples in the white house, from what I've been told. I'm glad that I got the chance to know my deceased FIL. He passed away April 2, 2007 and it's been a tough year for my Hubby and his mom. FIL didn't get the chance to make it to our wedding, but I know he loved me and he was happy we were getting married. In hindsight, it's sad b/c during the planning process, whenever we tried to involve him by asking for his guest list, he was never really cooperative. He'd just change the subject and now I know that he knew he wouldn't make it to our big day. But I am grateful to have spent 5 years knowing him and hearing his stories. He was the glue in the immediate as well as extended family. I'm most grateful because I'm nosey and ask many questions so I know many stories that I can one day pass on to my future kids about their paternal grandad.

I married an only child...I totally got ripped off.
I used to be the baby of the family until my parents decided to have my kid sister. We have a 14 year age difference between us. It's my brother, 1 year older, me, then her. Anyway, being the middle kid teaches you to share. My brother was bigger, meaner and stronger than me, so I had to use my noodle to get my way. I learned to manipulate. Then when my sister was old enough to talk, I was practically an adult, so playing with her wasn't much fun. I've always been the mother figure to her. She's smart. She comes to me when she needs the essentials, like clothes. Anyway, so I come from a family of 3, a huge extended family chocked full of aunts, uncles, cousins, etc and I marry a guy, who is an only child. Who is also the child of an only child. It doesn't get much lonlier than that. I mean it's great on one hand. I have one mother-in-law to deal with. But on the other hand, we are all she has, so she stays with us for long periods of time.
I think of a time in the future when my parents are older and will need assistence. It's times like this that makes me appreciate having a brother and sister to help shoulder the responsibility. Being an adult really pisses me off. So, for the sake of my future children, I will try to have more than one because God knows what a pain in the ass I will be in 40 years.

too tired to try to edit that last post...
Anyway, MIL is going back home! Yay! Although we love her, it will be nice to start 2008 with just us. When my MIL is here, my kitchen does not look like the picture below. I should snap a photo before we load up the car tomorrow. She's a pack rat and loves to line crap all around the perimeter of my island. Now, I'm not trying to imply that I'm super duper neat and tidy, but I do try to keep my kitchen and living room clean because when people come over, that's where we hang. Our top level where the bedrooms are located, is a true picture to our living habits. I dump stuff all over my bedroom. But the common areas in our home is generally tidy. So yay for 2008. :)
A new year with just me and my hubby..
It might sound harsh, but I am SO EXCITED TO HAVE MY KITCHEN BACK!

For my hubby
We chose to stand next to the R for my husband who decided to NOT come with us to California Adventure park. What a rude husband! Dylan, Ann and I had a fun time without him!
California Adventure
On Sunday, we decided to spend the day at California Adventure park. Since I've never been there, Ann took me and her cutie son, Dylan. My husband was supposed to go, but he decided to be a stick in the mud and stay home watching football, or some random sport on tv.

The highlight of my day was discovering this fantastic little bottle of sweetness!

If you like champagne...pour a little (or in my case, a lot) into the champagne flute, and you'll have a little party for your tastebuds.

Dylan
The smartest 2 year old I've met, to date. Plus, it doesn't hurt that he's ADORABLE. And super sweet. We're hoping one day, he'll be a movie star and support us for the rest of our lives. So if anyone is an agent or knows of an agent, send us some love so we can break Dylan into show business!
Let me name some of his talents....he can speak two languages, Vietnamese and English, he can break dance, count to 15 on his own, knows how to listen to his mother. I asked Dylan the other day..."Dylan, what's your mommy's name?" And he replied...."mother." he loves all things related to pirates. He's very good at entertaining himself. If we're driving in the car, he hardly ever cries. Only if he's sleeping and you wake him up will he cry...or if he drops his 'pen.' He has a good memory and learns things quickly. Plus, he's very debonair and knows how to make people feel special by wrapping his little arms around your neck, and hugging tight.
i heart dylan.

3 grandmas for the price of one
the one next to my hubby is my actual maternal grandmother. The other two ladies are her sisters or my great aunts. In Vietnamese, we call them grandmother, but in English, they're considered great aunts. My grandma is the oldest surviving kid from her family. The lady next to me, is her younger sister, and the one next to her is the baby sister. We call them Ba 7, Ba 8 and Ba 9, respectively. My Grandma is 88, Ba 8 is 86 and Ba 9 is 82. Ba 9 lives in France and flew all the way here just for my wedding. Made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. =) So I decided to blog about them. Because they're just so darn cute.

Our furbaby...and his arch nemesis, diamond.
So friggin cute these little guys are. The one in front right hand corner is my baby, Louis. This isn't his best picture, but he's distraught here because Diamond is chasing him around and Louis hates being chased by Diamond. They're both 100% purebreed malteses. Their daddy is a champion name blue diamond and they're originally from Orlando, Fl.
I love these little guys. Diamond's real home is in Las Vegas (as seen in picture) but since his daddy died (my FIL) his mom (MIL) has been staying with us in LA, thus, Louis has been living in pepetual anxiety. Poor baby.
If you're thinking about getting a pet...I would highly recommend a Maltese. We got Louis when he was 10 weeks old and he is the most loyal dog ever.

a close up of Louis.

more pics from our honeymoon
Is it bad to have a buzz at 10 in the morning?
Not if you're on your honeymoon! and especially not if you have a champagne brunch included in your room rate every day. =) I love me some mimosa. But sometimes, I'll take it without the oj. If you're thinking about going to Grand Cayman, I would highly recommend staying at the Ritz-Carlton. They have a private beach with cool loungers and a canopy to use if the weather is unbearable.
